Damascus and Carbon Steel Care
Due to the carbon content in the steel, there are several rules when using handmade knives.

1.Never put them in a dishwasher. They will sit in the water and rust.

2.After use, wipe down and clean dry and put away. With knives like hunters that are not used every day, a light coat in oil prevents oxidisation.

3.Unless it is made to break bones like cleavers etc, don’t smash little knives on bones, open jars etc. You wouldn’t use your Ferrari key to open a paint tin, don’t use the knife.

4.Unless you have a good system or knowledge, pay to get them sharpened. While a steel will sharpen the edge, each knife has certain angles for the edge for different purposes. Local knife sharpeners can re-edge the knife when damaged and the steel will keep it sharp as a razor.
